由于中国人和西方人的思维方式不同，所以在表达同一事物或概念时，可能会用不同的词或短语。所以在将中文翻译成英文或把英文翻译成中文时，就有可能要增加一些词，以便符合中文的表达习惯。至于到底应该增加哪种词或多少词，这并没有特别的规律，完全由译者按照原文译文的表达及上下文来确定。
