US law firm Morrison & Foerster has succeeded in recruiting a M&A-focused team of Japan-based O'Melveny & Myers attorneys - Gary Smith, David Litt and Randy Laxer - who have all joined Mofo as partners in the firm's Tokyo corporate group.

Mofo's Tokyo managing partner Ken Siegel called the new team "a great fit" for its Japan practice, and expected benefits from the lateral hires to flow through to its M&A, finance, capital markets and real estate practices.

Over the past four years, Morrison & Foerster has more than tripled the size of its Tokyo office, growing from 35 to more than 100 attorneys.
